Local SEO

Local SEO and Google Maps visibility

For Malaysian businesses that serve customers at a location or across a service area: a Business Profile that represents the business correctly, a website that supports each location and service, consistent citations, real reviews, and visibility measured on a map rather than guessed.

The situation

Local visibility is won on business facts, not tricks

When someone in Petaling Jaya searches for a clinic, a workshop or a contractor, Google decides which businesses to show from what it can verify: is this a real business, where does it operate, what does it do, and do independent sources agree? Most local SEO failures come from those facts being wrong, inconsistent or unproven — a profile with the wrong category, a service area nobody documented, an address that differs across listings.

The first thing we check is eligibility: whether your business qualifies for the local surface you want to appear on, as a storefront or as a service-area business under Google's current guidelines. Then we make every business fact consistent across your profile, your website and the listings that matter, and measure where you actually appear across the area you serve.

What you get

What local SEO work includes

Scoped from an eligibility and profile audit. If the audit shows the constraint is the website or its technical state, that work is scoped through the wider SEO programme or technical SEO.

01

Eligibility and representation check

Whether the business qualifies for a Business Profile and for which representation — storefront, service area or both — checked against Google's current guidelines before anything is optimised.

02

Business Profile foundations

Ownership secured under your account, primary and secondary categories, services, hours, attributes, photos and descriptions that reflect the real business. Duplicates and legacy listings resolved.

03

Location and service pages

Website pages that support each location and service with the facts a customer and a search engine both need, linked to the profile and to each other. No thin city pages.

04

Citations and entity consistency

Name, address, phone and category made consistent across the directories and platforms that matter for your sector, with listings you control rather than mass submissions you cannot.

05

A review process that stays within the rules

A repeatable way to ask satisfied customers for reviews and to respond to all of them. No incentives, no gating, no purchased reviews — practices Google's policies prohibit.

06

Grid-based Maps measurement

Local visibility sampled at points across your service area for your priority queries, so you see where you appear and where you do not, alongside calls, direction requests and website clicks from the profile.

How it runs

From eligibility to measured visibility

Local work follows the same rule as everything else we do: verify the facts, fix the foundations, then measure.

  1. 01

    Eligibility and audit

Confirm which local surfaces the business qualifies for, audit the current profile and listings, and record a baseline of local visibility across the service area.

  2. 02

    Profile and website foundations

Secure ownership, correct categories and services, and build or fix the location and service pages the profile points to.

  3. 03

    Citations and consistency

Correct and expand controlled listings so every source agrees on the same business facts.

  4. 04

    Reviews and reputation

Put a compliant review request and response process in place, owned by your team.

  5. 05

    Measure and adjust

Repeat grid measurements and profile performance reviews, then adjust categories, content and citations based on what moved.

What we need from you

Facts only you can confirm

Local SEO is built on your business facts, so the work stalls when they are unclear. We will ask for these early.

  • Ownership or manager access to the Google Business Profile, or the details needed to claim or verify one.
  • Every location and service area you actually serve, and whether customers visit you or you visit them.
  • Confirmed name, address, phone, hours and categories, including any recent changes.
  • Photos of the premises, team and work that you have the right to publish.
  • Someone on your side who can ask customers for reviews and answer them within a few days.

Measurement and reporting

Where you appear, not just whether you rank

A single "rank" means little for local search, because results change with the searcher's location. We sample your visibility at points across the area you serve, for the queries that matter, and repeat the measurement on a schedule so movement is observed rather than assumed.

  • Grid observations by query, point and date, kept as a record you can inspect.
  • Business Profile performance: calls, direction requests, website clicks and messages, read from Google's own data.
  • Website enquiries from location pages, measured through your analytics and conversion events.
  • Listing and citation status, with each change dated.

Questions

Asked about local seo

Straight answers to what people ask before they commit. Anything else, message us.

We work from home and visit customers. Can we still appear on Maps?

Often, yes — as a service-area business, which shows the area you serve rather than an address. Whether you qualify and how you should be represented depends on Google's current guidelines, so we check that first rather than assuming.

Should we have a page for every town we serve?

Only where you can say something true and useful about serving that place — real projects, real logistics, real differences. Pages that only swap a town name are the kind of thin content Google's guidance warns against, and they rarely earn local visibility.

Can you get our reviews up quickly?

We can put a compliant process in place that invites customers to leave an honest review at the right moment, regardless of how positive their experience was and responds to every review. We will not buy reviews, offer incentives or filter who is asked, because those practices violate Google's policies and can get a profile suspended.

Is local SEO part of the full SEO programme?

It can be. If the audit shows local visibility is a priority for your business, local work is scheduled inside the six-month programme. It can also be taken on its own when the website is otherwise sound.
