Underline — Tuition centre with online courses and a study store

The brief

A tuition centre sells classes in person, but revision material sits in shared folders and fees are chased on WhatsApp. Parents cannot see how their child is doing until the exam.

What we shipped

A website with classes, timetable, fees and trial booking; a study store for worksheets and courses; Solo and Family plans; a course player with quizzes; a parent portal; tutor tools; and a centre admin with publishing and sales.

Built for: Tuition centres, training providers and educators who sell classes, courses or downloads.

Every part, and what it does

Behind the build

Researched first, then built

Before designing anything, we studied 14 sites: tuition centres in Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and the US, learning apps, worksheet stores and course platforms. Nothing was copied. Each finding below changed a decision.

Studied (14)

  • The Learning Lab (Singapore)
  • Mavis Tutorial Centre (Singapore)
  • Explore Learning (UK)
  • Mathnasium (US)
  • GoLearn (Malaysia)
  • Geniebook (Singapore)
  • Pandai (Malaysia)
  • Save My Exams (UK)
  • Twinkl
  • Khan Academy
  • Atom Learning (UK)
  • Kajabi
  • Teachable
  • Thinkific
  • What we saw

Tuition centres lead with one action, a free trial, and repeat it down the page.

    What Underline does

“Book a free trial” is the one red button, in the header, the hero and after each decision.

  • What we saw

Several centres hide their classes behind filters.

    What Underline does

The timetable shows every class in a week view, and filters only narrow it.

  • What we saw

A fee calculator, where parents tick subjects and see the total, answers the price question fast.

    What Underline does

A fee calculator per child, with the sibling discount and the first month’s total.

  • What we saw

Learning apps win parents over by showing progress across several children.

    What Underline does

A parent portal with every child’s attendance, homework, quizzes and fees in one login.

  • What we saw

Worksheet stores show the actual pages, and course platforms publish or hide an item with one switch.

    What Underline does

Every item has a cover and a sample page, and publishing updates the store at once.

  • What we saw

Learning apps price monthly or yearly, with family options.

    What Underline does

Solo RM 39 and Family RM 69 a month, with two months free on yearly plans.

Rules it follows

The business rules, built in

The prototype enforces each of these, so you can test them yourself.

Fees

  • Per subject per month, RM 140 to RM 260
  • RM 60 registration
  • 10% sibling discount

Online plans

  • Solo RM 39 or Family RM 69 a month, for up to three children
  • Yearly plans get two months free
  • Pausing removes plan access, and courses bought outright stay

Store

  • A paid download goes to the student’s library and the parent’s purchases
  • A course opens as soon as it is bought
  • A guest checkout creates a new family account

Classes

  • Enrolling a trial student adds them to the class and raises the first invoice
  • Timetable changes are checked for room and tutor clashes

Connected roles

One action, every screen

Every role works on the same records, so one person’s action shows up for the others.

  1. 1

A trial booked on the website appears in the centre’s trial bookings. Enrolling the student adds them to the class and raises an invoice.

  2. 2

A store purchase puts the PDF in the student’s downloads and the parent’s purchases.

  3. 3

A Family plan gives both children every plan course.

  4. 4

Attendance, homework and marks from the tutor reach the student and the parent.

  5. 5

Quiz results, streaks and certificates show in the parent portal.

  6. 6

Publishing a draft updates the store and the online catalogue at once.

  7. 7

A payment recorded at the counter clears the parent’s invoice.

Core systems

What this build is made of

These are systems we build repeatedly — each links to every other project that contains it, so you can compare implementations before deciding what you need.

Unique to this build

Built specifically for this project rather than assembled from the shelf.

  • Downloads after payment

A paid worksheet lands in the student’s library and the parent’s purchases.

  • Family plan

One plan gives up to three children every recorded course.

  • Parent portal

Attendance, homework marks, quiz results and fees for each child.
