Little Lark
A café chain’s own app: order ahead from six branches, pay, follow the order and collect points and stamps, with the bar’s order board, sold-out switches and the owner’s numbers on the café side.

The brief
Most Malaysian brands’ own apps are rewards apps, often with ordering inside, and F&B ordering and memberships come up in our own quotations. We built a café chain’s app to the standard of a real one, so a café owner can try ordering, rewards and the café’s side on their own phone before deciding.
What we shipped
Six branches on a list or a map with hours and the wait before paying; 20 drinks and bakes with sizes, milks, sweetness and a note for the barista; pickup slots, delivery or a table number; the best voucher applied, and Touch ’n Go eWallet, DuitNow QR, FPX or card as steps that charge nothing; a pickup number and the name on the cup with live steps; points, stamps, tiers and vouchers. The café side has the bar’s order board, sold-out switches per branch and the owner’s dashboard. It runs as an Android app, built and signed by our pipeline, and in the browser; it is not on Google Play.
Built for: Cafés, bakeries, bubble tea shops and other quick-service chains that want their own ordering and rewards app rather than renting a platform’s.
Inside the build
Every part, and what it does
A closer look at what was actually built — screen by screen, so you can judge the depth for yourself.

Order ahead
Choose pickup, delivery or dine-in at one of six branches, with the wait shown before paying, then build each drink: temperature, size, milk, sweetness and extras priced into the line.
- Six branches, each with its wait
- Options priced into the line
- Pickup, delivery or dine-in

Points, stamps and vouchers
A point per ringgit, a stamp per drink with eight filling a card for a free drink, three tiers, and vouchers with their own dates and rules. Checkout picks the voucher that saves the most.
- Points, stamps and tiers
- Vouchers with dates and rules
- The best voucher applied

The bar’s board and the customer’s phone
Paid orders arrive on the bar’s board as new, making, ready or out. One tap moves an order on, and the customer’s phone follows with a pickup number, the name on the cup and a ready alert.
- New, making, ready, out
- Pickup number and name on the cup
- A ready alert on the phone

Sold-out switches and the owner’s numbers
Staff switch an item off when a branch runs out, and customers ordering there see it at once. The owner sees sales per day, orders by hour, best sellers and the branches compared, from sample data.
- Sold out per branch
- Sales and the morning rush
- Branches compared

Behind the build
Researched first, then built
Before choosing what to build, we looked at what Malaysian businesses actually commission rather than at our own enquiries: their own apps on Google Play, agencies’ portfolios and client reviews, freelance projects and the best-selling app templates.
Studied (4)
- 137 Malaysian brand apps on Google Play
- Clutch reviews of Malaysian and Singapore agencies
- Freelancer.com mobile projects
- CodeCanyon app templates
What we saw
What Little Lark does
What we saw
Malaysian companies’ own apps on Google Play are mostly member rewards apps, often with ordering or a shop.
What Little Lark does
Ordering and rewards in one app: points, stamps, tiers and vouchers earned on every order, with the rules shown.
What we saw
Shop and ordering apps were the largest single type of mobile project on Freelancer.com over 180 days, and food and delivery apps were 8 of the top 40 CodeCanyon templates.
What Little Lark does
The whole ordering journey: a branch, a menu with options, checkout with Malaysian payment methods, live status and a receipt.
What we saw
Agency portfolios and reviews put ordering and loyalty work level with operations apps.
What Little Lark does
The café’s side in the same app: the bar’s order board, sold-out switches and the owner’s dashboard.
Rules it follows
The business rules, built in
The prototype enforces each of these, so you can test them yourself.
Ordering
- The wait grows with the queue and how busy the bar is
- Pickup slots every 15 minutes in Malaysia time, or from opening tomorrow
- Delivery adds RM5; an order can be cancelled while it is new
Rewards
- A point per ringgit, double on Mondays for Golden Hour
- Eight stamps fill a card and add a free drink
- Daybreak at 300 points in 12 months, Golden Hour at 800
Branches
- Sold out applies to one branch only
- Payments are steps that charge nothing
- Everything stays on the phone; a reset starts the sample again
Connected roles
One action, every screen
Every role works on the same records, so one person’s action shows up for the others.
- 1
The customer orders and pays, and the order appears on that branch’s bar board as new.
- 2
The barista starts it and marks it ready; the customer’s phone shows each step and a ready alert.
- 3
Staff mark the bar busy, and new customers see a longer wait before they pay.
- 4
An item switched off at one branch shows as sold out there, and the owner’s dashboard counts the day.

Core systems
What this build is made of
These are systems we build repeatedly — each links to every other project that contains it, so you can compare implementations before deciding what you need.
Industry: Food & beverage
Unique to this build
Built specifically for this project rather than assembled from the shelf.
The wait before paying
Each branch’s wait grows with its queue and how busy the bar says it is, and customers see it before they pay.
Rewards with clear rules
A point per ringgit, double on Mondays for Golden Hour members, a stamp per drink, three tiers and the best voucher picked at checkout.
Sold out here
A switch per branch hides an item at that branch only, and customers there cannot add it.
